Sentencing Juveniles as Adults

The online Compact Oxford English Dictionary describes the word juvenile as being: "childish, a person below the age at which ... criminal prosecution is possible." However some adults, such as lawmakers fail to grasp the concept that, committing a crime does not turn a juvenile into an adult. Nevertheless, the justice system seems to have an imprudent perception that juvenile becomes an adult once they commit a crime, therefore, they should be sentenced as an adult.
