Santorum Linked to Sandusky, Penn State, + Larger Child Predator Network...

Jan 2012. Santorum's Strange Ties to Sandusky, Penn State, Second Mile Childrens Charity, + Larger Child Predator Network. Wayne Madsen Report. Presidential candidate Rick Santorum, along with 2 other former U.S. Senate Republicans who WMR identified as using their Senate offices to farm out young male staffers to House Republican members, received donations for their failed re-election bids in 2006 from Senator Larry Craig, the Idaho Republican.
The 3 senators were Santorum, Virginia's George Allen (who is currently running to regain his old seat), + Missouri's Jim Talent. Craig was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in June 2007 for soliciting sex from an undercover police officer in the men's toilet.
Like Santorum, Craig was generous in his support for "troubled youth" diversion programs, having donated thousands of dollars to the Idaho Youth Ranch.
Santorum nominated accused serial pedophile, former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, for the Congressional Angels in Adoption Award in 2002.
"In 2002, Sandusky had been witnessed by graduate assistant Mike McQueary engaged in anal sex with a young boy in the university's athletic center's shower. Sandusky was also alleged to have committed sex acts with minors at least four times before the 2002 incident.
Last summer, MS-NBC hired former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell as a commentator.
Rendell, along with former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, + current Governor Tom Corbett, the commonwealth's former Attorney General, have been accused of conspiring to cover up the pedophile scandal at Penn State. In addition, Rendell, according to news reports in Pennsylvania, covered up an underage prostitution scandal in Harrisburg involving not only the Supreme Court but his own executive office of governor.
Pennsylvania investigative journalist Bill Keisling doggedly pursued top-level corruption + sex scandals in the Ed Rendell administration in Harrisburg + within the state's court system.
He also investigated the murder of Assistant U.S. Attorney for Maryland
Jonathan Luna. In retaliation, Keisling was hit with a series of politically-motivated law suits.
On December 27, 2011, the National Memo website carried a story about how out of all the possible offices then-Senator Santorum could have chosen for his constituent office in Scranton, he decided to locate his office at 527 Linden Street, conveniently located one door away from the Silhouette Lounge, a gay leather bar in a blue collar city not known for a preponderance of gay bars.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was also the location of the infamous "kids-for-cash" scandal involving two state judges, Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan. The judges were sentencing juveniles convicted of even minor infractions to long terms at two for-profit juvenile centers in return for cash kickbacks.
There were charges that some of the youth sentenced to the facilities were sexually abused during their incarceration.
In 2005, Santorum defended the Catholic Church amid the pedophile scandal in the Boston archdiocese. +

YDR Opinion: Paterno Excuse Doesn't Cut It. 1-18-2012.
The board of trustees made the right decision in ending his career, and the Paterno apologists and the angry alumni should just stop with the "due process" garbage. It took a decade for some of the alleged victims to start getting their due process - also known as justice. That process might have started much sooner and prevented other victims .

The US is the only country in the world that pursues life imprisonment without parole against children, even as young as 11. Christi Cheramie of Louisiana was one of these children.

At age 16, Christi Cheramie was sentenced in 1994 to life in prison without parole. Now 33, she has spent more than half of her life in prison. It’s a violation of international law to sentence anyone to life in prison without the possibility of parole who was under the age of 18 at the time of the crime.

The Louisiana Board of Pardons will soon decide whether or not to hear her clemency application, and Governor Jindal has the power to influence this decision. Please call on them to grant her clemency.

Christi's warden says she's "worthy of a second chance." This month a decision will be made which could change her life -- and she needs your help. Read More »

Unlawful restraint widespread in child jails for a decade, says judge

Restraint Technique
originally by: The Guardian

published: 12th January 2012

The unlawful use of restraint was widespread in privately run child jails in Britain for at least a decade, a high court judge has ruled for the first time. Mr Justice Foskett said statutory agencies had failed to take action to stop the unlawful use of force against the large numbers of children held in the network of secure training centres run by G4S and Serco.
He singles out the youth justice board for its “apparent active promotion” until 2007 of restraint techniques which were subsequently banned.
The high court judge stops short of legally ordering the justice secretary, Kenneth Clarke, to inform hundreds, if not thousands, of potential victims of their right to claim compensation. But he does say that ministers need “to consider whether something ought to be done”.
In a damning ruling, Mr Justice Foskett, said: “The children and young persons sent to [secure training centres] were sent there because they had acted unlawfully and to learn to obey the law, yet many of them were subject to unlawful actions during their detention. I need, I think, say no more.”
The judicial review case was brought by the Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE) to challenge Clarke’s refusal to contact former detainees dating back to 1998 when the first privately run secure training centre opened in England.

Bars To Education: Incarcerated Youth Already Saddled With School Problems

Almost 90 percent of the city's incarcerated youth are re-arrested by the time they're 28, and the local prisons have proven to be much more successful at teaching criminal behavior than classroom subjects. Gabrielle Prisco of the Juvenile Justice Project at the Correctional Association of New York speaks to NY1.

Teenager Deserves New trial

Amber Riley was a normal teenage girl who just turned 16. She was working , attending school and hanging out with her friends and dog . Her nightmare began when a friend, Jason Harris murdered another friend of hers Terry Ray Taylor in a stabbing back in 2003, San Bernardino, California. Amber was also charged with the murder of Taylor. It was a crime that received much media attention due to the fact that the two allegedly recited the words of a song by heavy metal band, SlipKnot called "Disasterpiece" which has lyrics resembling the nature of the murder. More can be read here Amber stated she never liked this kind of music and that Jason was the one who listened to SlipKnot.

Amber claims she had no part in the murder and her codefendant Harris, who had already been sentenced to 50 years acted solely alone. She claims her being interrogated for long hours, alone without a lawyer, or her parents present, landed her in prison awaiting trial for nearly six years. She was coerced into signing away her rights for a speedy trial. The interrogating police lied, coerced, frightened, induced sleep depravation and hunger all to get a confession, whether it be true or not. Doctors stated at one point to Amber's parents that "she was not capable of murder" and one detective told her parents "he knew this was not her crime but she would have to convince a jury".

Amber's mother states she and her husband were never allowed to see her, and were never given details about why their daughter was being detained and arrested for murder. They were told they should go home, despite the fact that Amber had asked for her parents throughout the interrogation. Both parents were detained in their own living room and not allowed to place or receive calls keeping them separated from Amber while she was interrogated for hours. According to page 5 of the police report the interrogating officer stated at 6:08 PM Amber said "she felt like killing herself." He stated "she is a danger to herself and others, and is a gravely disabled minor," and thinking this he had her sign a Miranda waiver at 7:10 PM, just one hour later.

Amber's mother claims after 8 hours of interrogation Amber was admitted to Ward B at Arrowhead Medical center where she was then handcuffed to a chair in the hallway, and left there all night and denied the use of a phone to call her parents. She was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress disorder and in shock. She was placed in San Bernardino Juvenile hall without knowledge of her parents. Her father searched and found her 3 days later. Amber's mother stated an intake worker told her and her husband "she entered juvenile hall in worse shape of any kid they have ever seen." Amber was given what her mother calls "dangerous psychotic drugs" that caused nightmares and hallucination.

Amber's rights were clearly violated, and she should never have signed away her rights to a speedy trial. Her ignorance of the law, and manipulation by her interrogators have changed her life into a six year nightmare. Our hopes are that someone will read her story and help her in her fight for freedom.

According to Amber's mother, when Amber was first picked up by the police, and taken into custody she was never allowed her two completed phone calls, within an hour. (seeCalifornia Welfare & Institutions Code 627) . Her 14th Amendment Rights were violated when she was denied counsel during questioning. ( See Welfare & Institutions Code 30.23). Other issues include her mental condition was very important, since Amber had a history of depression and "separation anxiety" from her parents. A young scared girl was alone with adult male police detectives which infringed on her 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments of the Constitution concerning due process. (See Wikipedia on The Constitution)

Amber's mother also states that failure of telling Amber her father was at the place of interrogation was a direct violation of The Welfare & Institutions Code 30.11 . Other violations include she was deprived of rights and privileges and US Code 1414la was violated. Amber's mother also claims when Amber could not understand the Public Defender the Judge would not allow him to be replaced which was a violation of rule #1.14 in the rules of professional conduct, but one month later the Public Defender was asked to be taken off the case due to a conflict of interest that was never explained to them. She states that Amber was tried as an adult with no psychological witnesses, no juvenile hall witnesses, no defense witnesses, and no character witnesses. Amber was asked by the Public defender to sign papers she did not understand, and her parents never saw. Minors are not allowed to sign legal contracts and documents, yet a young girls legal rights were taken away from her in a matter of hours. She is a loving and caring young woman who will always be scarred by the events that happened in her life. She has already served almost 8 years for a crime she maintains she never committed. But that the police coerced her into confessioning to.

In consideration of the above errors and violation of Amber Riley rights, Amber and her parent are requesting that the case be reviewed for multiple errors and reconsidered for a new trial or early release from prison. via @change

Update on Blade 12/14/2011

On Friday, December 2nd, Blade was in an altercation with another boy, with whom he has
had trouble with in the past. This other boy threatened Blade with a Locksock, and then
lunged at him with it. Blade of course, tried to defend himself. Blade did throw some
punches, but only in self defense, and trying to protect himself from a severe beating or
potential severe injury. After the altercation was broken up, both Blade and the other boy
were written up and placed on lockdown until a hearing were to take place, deciding the
appropriate punishment for the offenses. Due to Blade's previous write-ups, there was
a strong possibility that he could have been sent to solitary confinement once again, even
though he was not the instigator of the above incident. Today I found out that he was not
going to be sent to CCU once again, but had some stringent sanctions placed upon him. If
Blade gets any more conduct related write-ups, he will be sent back to segregation, and
he would have to serve out all previous amount of time that he had been placed before and
new time. Blade had been in the CCU until April of 2011, and if had been made to spend the
total accrued time he was sent there for, he would have been in Solitary until June of

I am somewhat relieved,as he was not sent back to solitary this time but also still
concerned over Blade, as I find these sanctions unreasonable to say the least. Blade
is being held to a standard to that of a normal child, not one who is developmentally
disabled. To hold him to this standard, shows a complete lack of understanding and empathy
of Blade's emotional afflictions. Also with these sanctions, they are setting him up to
fail, not succeed.

With the prisons "No Tolerance" policies, simply raising your fists to defend yourself,
can be considered an aggressive act, and of course, subject to write ups and or other
punishments. I find that grossly unfair, and simply another way to destroy childrens lives
who were never meant to be in the prison system anyway.

We need your financial help, with Attorney's fees for Blade. Please consider a tax deductable donation
